Grant Writing

Chances are good there’s money available to help your organization achieve its mission. Government grants are one source, but there are also corporate foundations, private foundations, individuals and other sources for non-profit funding and development.

Greenleaf Project Management has an extensive history in grant writing and administration, beginning in 1995. Bonnie’s first grant project happened by accident. Her direct supervisor abruptly left his post for another job two weeks before the County’s first-ever household hazardous waste roundup even was scheduled. Unfortunately, that’s all that had been accomplished – the event was scheduled and the facility was reserved but no other work had been completed. No contractor had been hired, no advertising had been done, no permits filed, nada. Luckily, Bonnie’s grant manager at the California Integrated Waste Management Board suggested a top-notch mentor in a neighboring County and Bonnie was able to pull together Tehama County’s inaugural household hazardous waste collection event without a hitch.  Bonnie had to learn grant management by the seat of her pants but this started her on the path that has led to writing and managing more than $3 million in federal, state, and foundation grants in the last fifteen years.
